Stephen F. Kaufman, Hanshi, 10th Dan
 
 
An acknowledged Founding Father of American Karate, Hanshi Kaufman originally trained on Okinawa in the 1950s and has held the title of Hanshi since 1991. He is the founder of Hebi-ryu karate do: Dojo no Hebi, School of the Snake. He has taught for military organizations, law enforcement agencies, and many community centers and public agencies. Hanshi lectures and teaches strategy and motivation throughout the world.
He is the author of many books, including Musashi’s Book of Five Rings, Sun Tzu’s Art of War, The Shogun Scrolls, The Living Tao and Zen and the Art of Stickfighting. His latest works, Sword in the Boardroom and Formal Hebi-ryu Combat Karate Studies, are soon to be released. Hanshi’s books have been translated into many languages.
