自近代西风东渐以来，中华文明与世界各文明之间的交流从未停止，双方都从这种交流中获益匪浅。当今之世，寰宇为平，天涯咫尺，我们每一个爱书之人在沧海桑田之变中，最感欣慰的小小幸福就是可以读到更多更好的书，原本“书卷多情似故人，晨昏忧乐每相亲”，如今更是“有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎”。这些远方的“朋友”，必得先有人接引进门，方能一睹庐山真面目。这些接引之人，有的自名为“窃火者”，有的信奉“信达雅”，有的主张“重神似不重形似”，我们通常称他们为“译者”。“译者”和“作者”一样是读者的益友、忠友、信友、诤友。
